Slavery in America was harsh. The daily life of a slave consisted of working, and cleaning. For women it would be taking care of the masters children, cleaning, cooking, or working in the field with the men. Slaves were often beat if they did not obey what their master told them to do and this happened frequently because the slaves did not like working for people they wanted to be free. And soon some of them would be.
Slaves would often have children with the masters. These children could be sold to other slave owners and taken straight from their families. Owners never cared about the well being of the child but the fact that they would be good workers. Slaves would have large families and the children would be sold to different families and possibly never see there parents or siblings again. The life of a slave depended on their master, some slaves had nice masters who never beat them, but not always many slave owners beat there slaves daily. Escape was always on a slaves mind.
